Dr Helen Evert (BA, GradDip Child-Adole Psych, MEdPsych, PhD, MAPS) is a Senior Psychologist who has a warm and accepting nature. 

Helen has close to twenty years experience working in community-based organisations, private practice and in academia.  She has developed a comprehensive skill set with a deep understanding of the human condition and relationships. In the therapeutic relationship she offers compassion, nurture and acceptance with an emphasis on assisting people to develop a deeper self-understanding and awareness. She works collaboratively with people to recognise and appreciate their strengths, internal resources and improve their problem solving and coping strategies.

She provides therapeutic counselling for depression, anxiety, grief and loss, assisting with interpersonal relationships and life adjustment.  Approaches used include cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, interpersonal therapy, relaxation techniques and social skills training (individually & in groups).  Helen has experience in providing initial assessment and treatment for people diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum and their families.  

Helen has completed a Masters in Educational Psychology in 1997 and received her PhD from Melbourne University in 2008.  Her researched focused on understanding coping and resilience in elderly Polish immigrants who experienced war-related trauma, suffering and loss.
