Dr Terence Bartholomew
Dr Terence Bartholomew (BAppSci, GDipPsych, GDipCrim, M.A., MPsych, PhD (Melb), MAPS) is an experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist with a respectful and carefully considered therapeutic approach.
Terry has 20 years of clinical experience but feels like he is always learning from his clients. He has worked in hospital, University, not-for-profit and private practice settings both in Australia and overseas. Terry works with individual adults and with couples. He is experienced in the following areas: relationship issues, workplace issues, psycho-legal difficulties and transitions, anxiety, family challenges, depression, trauma, identity struggles, men’s issues, self-harm, and substance use & addiction.
Terry has co-ordinated graduate psychology programs at numerous Australian and international Universities. When not at MCPC he spends time teaching graduate units at University.

Terry’s preference is to draw on these approaches as indicated by client and/or clinical factors, while remaining grounded in Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic frameworks.
Terry sees the broad goal of most therapeutic work as providing a forum for the client to enhance their insight and understanding, and for this to contribute to a more value-consistent and satisfying life. His client-centred method begins with a collaborative process where short and longer term goals are arrived at, and his therapeutic process utilises rapport, support, validation, empathy, pattern recognition, shared problem solving, and challenge in order to help clients improve their situation, insight and coping abilities.
